The Bearhug brand was a brand I developed to fill a gap in the Canadian apparel market. It’s a much more graphic response to the idea of Canada, instead of relying on clichéd imagery. The storefront website offered viewers an easy to use shopping experience, where they could explore designs without all the usual clutter of eCommerce sites.

As owner I aslo designed all the t-shirts for Bearhug, from concept to print. The idea was to focus on aspects of Canada that don’t always get celebrated such as the land mass. Other times humour was employed as was the case with the ‘Toonies and Loonies’ t-shirt.
To expand the product range I started offering prints of some of the t-shirts and also some unique designs. This made it possible to create designs such as the ‘Oh Canada’ print which wouldn’t work on fabric.
